Stuff and things.

Aaron Kroontje's musings on life in (mostly in) YYC.

A blend of thoughtful reflection on the current digital landscape, some of the best haps in Calgary (with my takeaways) and other outlets of mine.

Honoring my Dutch roots, my lost friend Vaughan and my general course of life.

Replace ‘Sailing’ with ‘SCUBA’ and call it a summer.
I had started the summer with grand dreams of tackling White Sail III on the Glenmore Reservoir and they even teased my friend Sarah and I by giving us a couple dry land classes while the reservoir was empty.
Why was it empty?!?
Good question…well the city had emptied it on concerns the river would rise and if need be they could divert the flow to the reservoir.  In the end the class had to be cancelled and I was left mildly PO’d that I would probably not be sailing this summer.

They had a most excellent deal via Aqua Sport Scuba on for the last two days for their Open Water certification course and I scooped it up.  Yup, now I’m gonna go get PADI certified in August instead.
You’re not certified already?! the horrified crowd gasps.
No, sadly I got 90% done while working on the yacht in France but then the ship had to move and I had no more down time to finish my open water dives.  After a year if you aren’t fully certified all your training lapses and so here I sit, PADIless.
Pretty. Frickin. Jazzed.
Hey! Wanna go diving some time?
